I am continuing to play with complementary colors plus tints and shades. It is really quite fun to see the ways in which colors interact creating illusions of depth or flattening the picture plane merely by changing which color is next to which.

Optical Blending

Sticking with a similar color palette to the previous drawing set, I thought I would try mixing the colors. I am not really happy with the results but it was worth a try.

Four Colors, Four Circles

Sometimes it is interesting to create a group of rules and vary only slightly from one drawing to the next. Here, the basic form and the color scheme are the same through four drawings. Slight variations in scale and composition combined with varied location of the colors result in fairly different effects in each of the drawings.
